Our Wedding: June 7, 2008

"Love is a temporary madness, it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides.
And when it subsides you have to make a decision.
You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.
Because this is what love is.
Love is not breathlessness, it is not excitement, it is not the promulgation of eternal passion.
That is just being "in love" which any fool can do.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
Those that truly love have roots that grow towards each other underground,
and when all the pretty blossoms have fallen from their branches,
they find that they are one tree and not two."

Our Vows

"I love you.
You are my best friend.
Today I give myself to you in marriage.
I promise to encourage and inspire you,
to laugh with you, and to comfort you
in times of sorrow and struggle.
I promise to love you in
good times
and in bad,
when life seems easy
and when it
seems hard,
when our love is simple,
and when it is an effort.
I promise to cherish you,
and to always
hold you in highest regard.
These things I give to you today,
and all the days of our life.
"

Blessing of the Hands

"These are the hands of your best friend, young and strong and full of love for you.
These are the hands that are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow and forever.
These are the hands that will work along side yours as together you build your future.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years and with the slightest touch will comfort you like no other.
These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief wracks your mind.
These are hands that will countless times wipe tears from your eyes, tears of joy and tears of sorrow.
These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children.
These are the hands that will help hold your family together as one.
These are hands that will give you strength when you need it.
These are the hands that even when wrinkled with age will still be reaching for yours, still giving the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch.

Excerpts from Best Man's Speech/Poem

"We were living together, which was great
And this situation, it also did mean
I was there from the very beginning
When he began speaking of this girl Laura Jean

Dinosaurs brought them together
However the course was harder than either expected
Boss was going to drop the class
But for some reason, the thought was rejected

He would come home and talk to us
About her looks and smile...her praises he would often sing
He said she seems really really excited when she sees him
But on second thought she's like that with 'most everything.
"

"They continued to be a great pair
It was almost one word "BossandFeff"
Together to New York they went
With neither knowing just what to expect

Although survival was trying at times
You found your place in this big city, while also having lots of fun
And you will continue to do just that with life
Now that "Boss and Feff" are officially one

So lets raise our glasses to the bride and groom
Here's to the ups and downs, the laughs and quarrels
As well as to lots of children
That will make lovely playmates for Sir Charles!
